About this cartoon: Several media companies, including Gannett, Tribune and Scripps, have cut loose their newspaper divisions, seeing these declining properties as dragging down their conglomeratede operations. Never mind that newspapers built these corporations in the first place. Is some cases, such as with Tribune, the newspaper group is spun off carrying massive debt back to the former parent company. It's capitalism at its most vicious.
