Title: Murdoch
Published: Cartoon Movement (The Netherlands)
Date: July 2011
About this cartoon: Media baron Rupert Murdoch's power and influence in Britain, and to a lesser extent in the U.S., was jolted by reports that his "News of the World" paper paid to have phones of celebrities, politicians and even ordinary people hacked, possibly playing a part in the kidnapping and murder of a girl by misleading the police trying to rescue her. The resulting furor killed one of Murdoch's newspapers and prevented a major media deal, as well as leading to several arrests and resignations.
