Title: You're supposed to salute the flag, Daschle
Published:
Date: Jan.10, 2002
About this cartoon: Riding high on his success in Afghanistan, President George W. Bush turned his attention back to his economic plans to give away the national surplus in the form of huge tax refunds which, true to the usual Reagan/Bush/Bush model, heavily favored corporations and the wealthiest Americans. Dubya used the wartime setting to paint those opposing his plan, such as the Senate Majority Leader, as lacking unity (and perhaps patriotism) during a time when the nation is "supposed to pull together."
Noteworthy: I originally had the flag painted on the right side of the truck, but that wasn't obvious enough and left some people confused.
