about this cartoon: | Title:
Extracting Saddam Published: Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles Date: Dec. 19, 2003 About this cartoon: The United States military finally captured Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, pulling him out bearded, dirty and disheveled from a tiny hole dug into the dirt near a hut. The fugitive presence of Saddam on the loose, making broadcasts and trying to rally his people helped stir anti-American violence, so perhaps his capture will help reduce those sentiments. Noteworthy: Saddam's capture from his tiny hiding place seemed like an extraction, as in teeth, and his temporary beard lent itself visually to the offbeat image above. |
