About this cartoon: The Bay Area had the dubious distinction of having the most expensive gasoline prices in the nation.
Noteworthy: Okayed for the San Francisco Examiner in August 1999 but not run because gas prices started to fall by the time the cartoon was finished, making the cartoon too dated. A year later I was at the Marin IJ, just as gas prices soared again to new levels.
