About this cartoon: A struggling, mostly-partisan effort to recall Gov. Gray Davis was making little progress until multimillionaire Republican Rep. Darrell Issa pumped in millions to hire paid signature-gatherers to sign up enough voters to bring to recal to the ballot (estimated cost of a special election: $30 to 35 million). Of course, a replacement for Davis would be needed, and Issa gallantly offered up... himself.
Noteworthy: I learned after I drew this that the name is pronounced "EYE-sa," not "ISS-sa," but in a visual, printed cartoon the spelling still leads the reader to follow the point here.
