About this cartoon: The massive budget deficit facing California has also been felt by cities, counties and in other states, and nearly every area of government is looking to cut back services. Libraries seem to be a popular target for cuts or closures; this cartoon was inspired by one such closure in Ventura, although it can apply almost anywhere.
