about this cartoon: | Title:
Mr. Hairspray Published: Ventura County Star Date: Nov. 12, 2002 About this cartoon: Gov. Gray Davis won reelection, but not by much, against the novice Bill Simon. It was an underwhelming victory, and it was evident that Californians were unhappy with the choice, voting for Davis but in essence holding their noses while doing so. Noteworthy: I like to use Minerva to represent the state-- after all, she's the symbol on the state seal -- because it lets me bring a political symbol to life as a person. I like this cartoon, though Davis is still a difficult figure to draw well. |
