about this cartoon: | Title:
PG&E bonuses Published: Marin Independent Journal Date: June 20, 2001 About this cartoon: Pacific Gas & Electric, Northern Californias main power supplier, had filed for bankruptcy and jacked up rates, with state government approval, because it was so strapped financially during California's energy crisis (or so it said, despite evidence of price-fixing and supply-faking). But then it somehow found $17 million in bonuses for senior executives, to keep them from leaving the company and to thank them for a job well done... in PG&E's eyes. Noteworthy: A fun cartoon to do, with a pacing deliberately designed to be puzzling until the final panel. |
