about this cartoon: | Title:
State song Published: Daily News of Los Angeles Date: March 30, 1984 About this cartoon: California has a lame, high-schoolish state song. Virtually nobody knows it or can sing it (I've met one person who can), and most people think the state song is "California, Here I Come" anyway. This was a cartoon to note the misconceptions. Noteworthy: This was meant to be critical of the song, and to suggest it was a foolish song to maintain, but some Daughter of the Golden West type called me to thank me for standing up for the song and decrying those who didn't like it. Um... you're welcome. Sigh... |
