about this cartoon: | Title:
Teen votes Published: Ventura County Star Date: March 14, 2004 About this cartoon: State Senator John Vasconcellos floated a bizarre trial balloon: offering votes to teens, specifically, offering half-votes to 16- and 17- year olds, and quarter-votes to 14- and 15-year olds (he called it "training wheels" towards democracy). Yeah, right, that'll sure excite the kids, getting flooded with campaign pieces in exchange for a vote worth only half or a quarter a normal vote. |
