about this cartoon: | Title:
Headwaters forest Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer and California Journal Date: 1999 About this cartoon: A new Headwaters National Forest was created amid much controversy, as the former landowner, the Pacific Lumber Company, coveted the trees for logging and had in fact logged in spite of past restrictions in previously "protected" areas. The number of trees in the new national forest was far fewer than environmentalists had hoped for, with too little of contiguous habitat areas for wildlife. Noteworthy: A Seattle version was first, with "Calif." on the signs, before I modified it for California Journal. | ||||||||||||||
