about this cartoon: | Title:
The oil independence war is over Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Date: May 3, 1999 About this cartoon: The huge boom of gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles, the decline in gas mileage effeciency and the general lack of concern about gasoline consumption contrasts sharply with the economy-and-efficiency awareness during the "gas crunches" of the 1970s. Soaring gas prices still don't seem to have brought that awareness back to the same degree. Noteworthy: One of the more fun aspects of cartooning is the opportunity to give life and personality to inanimate objects. I've animated my gas pumps more than once. | ||||||||||||||
