about this cartoon: | Title:
Spotted owl: Don't blame me Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Date: July 2, 1993 About this cartoon: In the Pacific Northwest, one of the hottest topics was the spotted owl, endangered by the loss of its habitat to logging. Since the region's economy is heavily impacted by the logging and timber industry and many jobs would be lost saving the owl, the bird became the focus of much anger, resentment and even occasional violence from some. Noteworthy: My version of the spotted owl - more polka-dot, actually - appeared in numerous cartoons in Seattle, not all owl-oriented. | ||||||||||||||
