about this cartoon: | Title:
Community input panels Published: Editor & Publisher Date: Oct. 4, 1997 About this cartoon: Many newspapers have tried to become more responsive to readers who've perceived them as impenetrable and arrogant by involving members of the public on their editorial boards or on "community input panels." It's sometimes an excercise in "political correctness" and sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Noteworthy: I suspect many papers could identify with this cartoon. "The Public" and what they want is not necessarily a clear and monolithic thing. |
