about this cartoon: | Title:
Sacrifices for the deficit Published: Daily News of Los Angeles Date: Jan. 27, 1983 About this cartoon: Under Reagan's administration, spending deficits soared, driven by tax cuts and military spending. Social programs, never a favorite of Reagan, took much of the hit in exchange. Noteworthy: The idea of making sacrifices came up on occasion, so it was an easy jump to illustrate a different meaning of the word. The shading is pre-computer, using hand-cut shading films. |
