about this cartoon: | Title:
John Anderson Published: Daily News of Los Angeles Date: June 20, 1980 About this cartoon: Decades later, he's been all but forgotten, but in the election of 1980 John B. Anderson became a force to reckon with, as an alternative candidiate to the unappealing choice of Reagn vs. Carter. The straight-talking independent Anderson picked up several newspaper endorsements and very nearly won the Vermont primary. Noteworthy: This was my first cartoon reprinted in The New York Times, a fact which prompted the change in my signature from "Van Nuys, CA" to "Los Angeles". |
