about this cartoon: | Title:
Bishop and Bush speeches Published: Ventura County Star Date: July 12, 2002 About this cartoon: The Catholic Church was reeling from multiple child sex-abuse revelations even as its bishops and other top officials tried to still preach morality. And the corporate world was reeling from multiple financial fraud revelations. President Bush tried to lecture the nation's corporate chiefs to behave, but his personal history as a rich oil executive and his ties to Enron and Haliburton weren't giving him quite as lofty a pulpit as he might have wanted. Noteworthy: The figure on the left is a generic bishop or such, not any specific individual. |
