about this cartoon: | Title:
Compassionate conservatism Published: Marin Independent Journal Date: Mar. 16, 2001 About this cartoon: George W. Bush campaigned with a slogan of "compassionate conservatism," not too unlike his father's "kinder and gentler" phrase. His political and socio-economic leanings weren't too different than his father's either, or his father's boss. The same old favor the rich leanings, including proposing a 6.6% rate cut for the wealthiest, but no change for thlowest tax brackets. Noteworthy: Not surprisingly, some people were offended by this, but the clear majority liked this one a lot. |
