about this cartoon: | Title:
Computerized voting Published: Ventura County Star Date: Feb. 15, 2004 About this cartoon: California, among other states, has been considering changing its voting method to a touch-screen, computerized system for instant tallying. Proponents claim it can be made secure. But if the world's largest software systems company, Microsoft, with its many top-flight security experts, is continually struggling with viruses and hackers and repeatedly has admitted security flaws, how much confidence does that inspire in a system where the stakes can be truly enormous? Noteworthy: This cartoon isn't aimed at Kucinich supporters. He is at the bottom of the pack in the Democratic primaries, so I just used his name to exaggerate the unlikeliness of his name being the big winner. |
