about this cartoon: | Title:
Died for... Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Date: Dec. 17, 1990 About this cartoon: Many Americans had questions about why we were fighting the first Gulf War. Was it worth many lives lost to save Kuwait, and if so, was it just for their oil? Was it about stopping aggression, kissing up to Saudi Arabia, or bolstering Bush's image for a reelection bid? The looseness of the cause would be mirrored by his son, George W. Bush, in the second. Gulf War. Noteworthy: A controversial but generally liked cartoon, eventually reprinted in the book, "Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year." |
