about this cartoon: | Title:
Thurgood Marshall''s chair Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Date: June 29, 1991 About this cartoon: The nation had the misfortune of seeing Thurgood Marshall, one of the Supreme Court's towering figures, retire during the Bush administration, since it meant Marshall's causes would not be continued under any likely Bush appointee. This was confirmed by the naming of Clarence Thomas to the vacancy. Noteworthy: Primarily a tribute cartoon to Marshall upon his leaving the Court, but also an opportunity to make some points about Bush and the nation's political shifts. | ||||||||||||||
