about this cartoon: | Title:
World trade Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer Date: Dec. 13, 1999 About this cartoon: The World Trade Organization had met in Seattle, and the event was a disaster marred by rioters and police brutality. But the question of how workable world trading standards even were still remained, as each nation had its own agenda, with compromise solutions often at odds with a nation's self-interests, and little progress was made in imposing global standards (whew!). Noteworthy: One of my final cartoons in Seattle, this was my only cartoon relating to the WTO. During the entire time of riots and world focus on Seattle, I was out of state on a previously-scheduled vacation. |
