More about this cartoon:
Title: Pacific Electric red cars
Published: Daily News of Los Angeles
Date: Oct. 25, 1981
About this cartoon: Los Angeles has an excellent, clean and enormous electric trasnsit system around the 1920s through 1950s, killed off by the growing car-culture, with a strong push the by oil, auto and tire industries (the movie "Who Killed Roger Rabbit" actually got into this). It wasn't until later in the 1980s that L.A. built its new, small, underutilized and extremely expensive subway system.
Noteworthy: A cartoon I've always liked very much, both for its music, the drawing, and the information conveyed in it. The use of a song lamenting the loss of railroads fits this particularly well.
