about this cartoon: | Title:
Supreme Court and marijuana Published: Marin Independent Journal Date: May 16, 2001 About this cartoon: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously that marijuana was an illegal substance, and that no justification (such as the medical purposes that prompted California voters to support a medical-marijuana initiative) existed for its legal use, period. Noteworthy: Medical pot, and for that matter pot in general, is a big deal in the liberal Bay Area, with even the Marin D.A.s office and local law enforcement agencies inclined toward leniency, and medical-marijuana labs operating freely in Oakland and other places. |
