About this cartoon feature: This was drawn for a book of one-and two-page regional comix pages, "Seattle Laughs," drawn in 1994 and edited by fellow cartoonist Shary Flenniken. There are many very local Seattle references; the fellow at the end, the late newspaper columnist Emmett Watson, was known for his semi-serious "Lesser Seattle" movement to keep the town from gentrifying, especially from the influx of Californians.
