about this cartoon: | Title:
High five Published: Ventura County Star Date: Oct. 29, 2002 About this cartoon: The Anaheim Angels (formerly the California Angels) finally made it into their first World Series, and won it in seven games against the Giants in dramatic fashion (including a miraculous comeback in Game 6). Their long-time owner, the late Gene Autry (the "Singing Cowboy") died too soon to see his dream, but no doubt would have been delighted. Noteworthy: This cartoon was added to a display on Autry and the Angels at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage in Los Angeles. I also received a very nice letter on this from Autry's widow, Jackie. |
