about this cartoon: | Title:
Calif. State University Channel Islands Published: Ventura County Star Date: Aug. 16, 2002 About this cartoon: Ventura County (poulation around 800,000) finally got its first public four-year college, California State University Channel Islands, ending its dubious distinction as the state's largest county without such an institution. Noteworthy: The college was named for a string of wilderness-protection islands off the coast the county hopes will become more of a destination for visitors. CSUCI takes over the grounds of a former state mental hospital, hence its older, red-tile-roof architecture. |
