about this cartoon: | Title:
Erle Stanley Gardner Published: Ventura County Star Date: May 22, 2003 About this cartoon: A local cartoon. Author Erle Stanley Gardner is perhaps Ventura, California's "most famous son"; the writer of the "Perry Mason" novels got his start in downtown Ventura. Despite the city's purported interest in developing its sometimes-struggling downtown "Cultural District", the fact that a Gardner mueum would be perfectly located for that, and the fact the contents for such a museum already exist, the city has been remarkably unwilling to do anything to make this happen. Noteworthy: It was a bit of a challenge to nail the late Raymond Burr's image accurately, but his TV depiction of Perry Mason is the image that most people think of from Erle Stanley Gardner's creations. |
