About this cartoon: President Obama had made it an important goal to extract the nation from Iraq and his predecessor's war there. But the inept and divisive government of Iraq, coupled with a well-funded and well-armed onslaught from ISIS (Islamic State), changed the picture. ISIS made rapid gains of territory and seeming moved at will against Iraqui forces, whom they captured... and beheaded. Other moves by ISIS against Christians and those of other faiths showed clear genocidal intent, and Obama ordered airstrikes to push back ISIS and deliver aid to beleagured minority groups. Our disengagement from Iraq has morphed into a new policy of engagement, but just as long as there are "no boots on the ground" again.
