About this cartoon: Republican-controlled state legislatures around the country are trying to game the system, knowing that their numbers of older, white conservatives are declining, so the party is doing everything it can to block or delete voters who would tend to lean Democratic. Minorities, the poor, the elderly and the young are subject to arbitrary "Voter I.D." rules, reductions in polling-place hours and locations, and the purging of voters from the rolls of eligible voters. Not surprisingly, African Americans and Latinos are among those most affected, and the blocking of their rights to vote are blatant attemps to allow fewer Democrats to cast ballots. And sadly, the conservative Supreme Court, more partisan than ever, is allowing many such practices, usually on 5-4 votes.
