About this cartoon: Methyl bromide, a pesticide, is the most effective tool that strawberry farmers have to control pests and improve their crops. In Ventura County, where most of the state's strawberries are grown, growers have seen the value and quality of the crop rise dramatically. Unfortunately, methyl bromide has been shown to damage the earth's ozone layer, and the substance has been ordered banned... unless there is no viable alternative, which thus far might be the case for strawberry growers.
