about this cartoon: | Title:
Abbas Crackdown Published: Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles Date: Jan 7, 2005 About this cartoon: Mahmoud Abbas, in the running to be the Palestinian Authority's succesor to Yasser Arafat, was portrayed by many as a moderate seeking peace. Yet as the campaign rolled along, he increasingly defended the militants and suicide-bombers, denounced Israel, called for all Palestinians to be able to resettle former lands in Israel and reached out to Hamas... basically, doing much as Arafat had done. Whether it's merely campaign rhetoric or his real intentions remains to be seen. |
