about this cartoon: | Title:
Ilan Ramonl Published: Jewish Bulletin of Northern Calif. (San Francisco) Date: Feb. 7, 2003 About this cartoon: The disintegration of the shuttle Columbia was not just a U.S. tragedy. The first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, was on board and carried with him the hopes and pride of his nation, so weary from war and violence and looking for the lift a national hero could offer, making his death just minutes from the end of a successful mission all the more devastating. Noteworthy: I got a bit too clever with the "glow" of the stars... in some of the places it was reproduced, the printing fuzzed up a bit and obscured the six points of the Star of David. |
