About this cartoon: The Israeli Likud government was trying to settle the West Bank in order to stake a Jewish claim to it, and newly arrived Jews from the Soviet Union were steered towards these settlements in hostile territory.
Noteworthy: Intended for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer but pulled at the last minute, for reasons I can't really recall; I think the editorial page editor was a bit uncomfortable with it. It was published in a cartoon-reprint publication based in Oregon, which was comfortable with it.
