about this cartoon: | Title:
Rattle rattle Published: Jewish Bulletin of Northern Calif. (San Francisco) Date: Mar. 7, 2003 About this cartoon: As war against Iraq drew closer, Israelis grew increasingly nervous. Saddam Hussein fired Scud millies at them in the first Gulf War, and the threat of biological or chemical weapons loomed for the second Gulf War. Noteworthy: This cartoon drew some angry responses from people who couldn't understand why any sympathy should be shown to Israelis (in light of Iraqi or Palestinian suffering). Cartoons are intended to make one point at a time, and while the average Iraqi or Palestinian citizen may indeed be suffering, it doesn't mean one particular cartoon can't address the suffering of another group. |
