about this cartoon: | Title:
Sharon reelected Published: Ventura County Star Date: Jan. 30, 2003 About this cartoon: Israeli hard-line Prime Minister Ariel Sharon won reelection, as expected, from a nation that was uneasy but hesitant to make a change. He immediately faced a challenge of building a coalition to govern with, since the more liberal Labor party refused to deal with his politics and tactics. The bigger challenge, however, will be trying to make some sort of workable peace in the region, especially given his track record and Arab loathing of Sharon. Noteworthy: A bit reminescent of a cartoon I did years earlier on world trade, but this cartoon seemed to hit Sharon's two big challenges in one fell swoop, which I like. |
