about this cartoon: | Title:
Easy steps from peace to hate Published: Jewish Bulletin of Northern Calif. (San Francisco) Date: April , 2003 About this cartoon: As the second Gulf War loomed, some people angry about the slide to war blamed Israel, and by extension Jews, for causing the war and paving the way for terrorist attacks against the U.S., citing Palestinian oppression. The Bay Area was a good example of this, as liberal sympathy for the "oppressed" Palestinians helped usher in anti-Jewish sentiments and attacks. Noteworthy: It's a bit of effort to read, but I think this cartoon is an important one, pointing out how good intentions by the "enlightebed" can actually set up an atmosphere of hatred and violence. |
