about this cartoon: | Title:
Uncle Sam looks for empathy Published: Jewish Bulletin of Northern Calif. (San Francisco) Date: October 2001 About this cartoon: The Sept. 11 attack on the U.S., and subsequent bioterrorism attacks, shook the national psyche, leaving many Americans fearful of when, not if, another attack might occur... a condition that Israelhas faced daily for years. Noteworthy: The Israeli figure is just a generic character to represent the country, although at one point it started to look like Ariel Sharon, which made me rework it so that it did not resemble him or anyone. This was a cartoon cited in my 2002 Rockower Award win. |
