about this cartoon: | Title:
Waiting in the wings Published: Jewish Bulletin of Northern Calif. (San Francisco) Date: December 2001 About this cartoon: Israel began to run out of patience with Yasser Arafat after a new string of suicide bombings and Arafat's inability or unwillingness to confront Hamas and other extremist factions. Israel put pressure on Arafat to clamp down, or see his regime ended. Noteworthy: The point here is, that as bas as Arafat is, what's next could be much worse. And for cartoonists. Arafat is one of the greatest targets for caricature around, one who'd be missed if he was gone. |
