About this cartoon: Israel contemplated a new Conversion Law and right-of-return rules, all designed to kiss up to the extreme religious right. Such laws would let the ultra-Orthodox rabbinate decide things such as who is a Jew, who is a valid convert, and whose marriages are considered valid; all of this works against Reform and non-religious Jews and is considered very offensive to them.
